Aston University is a sector leading provider of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) in the UK. KTP (http://www.ktp-uk.org/) is a well-established Innovate UK programme that supports businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within UK universities.
We are looking for a dynamic and diligent individual to join our Research and Enterprise team to support continued growth and deliver outstanding service to our KTP Partners.
You will provide leadership for Aston University’s KTP activity across multiple workstreams. You will act as a main point of contact, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain a successful portfolio of KTPs and enhance Aston’s national standing.
This is a senior management post where you will be expected to lead on strategy, senior relationship building, stakeholder management, complex bid writing and representing the University regionally and nationally.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level with experience of working in a commercial or Higher Education setting. You will work as part of an experienced team, with a clear customer focus and have excellent IT, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Key skills required for this role include strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to lead and inspire teams, communicate effectively, and drive results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role also demands proven expertise in stakeholder management, with the ability to engage and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including business partners, funding bodies, academic staff, and strategic partners. Additionally, it requires a solid understanding of the strategic needs of business partners, offering advice and guidance to align strategic goals with market opportunities and commercial impact. The ability to develop compelling business cases and write high-quality Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) applications is also essential.

Aston may be able to sponsor the successful candidate under the Skilled Worker visa route, dependent upon the grade and salary associated with their appointment.
For appointments at the lower end of Grade 9, where the salary falls below the minimum threshold for sponsorship, Aston University may be able to sponsor candidates who:
• Are under 26 years of age,
• Have a PhD relevant to the role,
• Have held a Student or Graduate visa within the past two years
• Are currently residing in the UK with a Tier 2 or Skilled Worker visa issued before 4th April 2024.
