Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join Aston University’s award-winning Careers and Placements team as an Employability Adviser (one focused on first and final year undergraduates and the other on supporting postgraduates), supporting our commitment to helping every student achieve good graduate outcomes and build the skills they need for the future.

In this varied and student‑focused role, you will work with a designated group of learners, either undergraduates or postgraduates, guiding them through the early stages of their career journey. You will help students understand the recruitment process, strengthen their applications, and prepare effectively for interviews and work‑related opportunities. Working closely with Careers Consultants, you will deliver a blend of one‑to‑one advice, group activities and curriculum‑embedded sessions designed to build confidence, awareness and employability skills.

A key part of the role involves encouraging students to engage with internships, part‑time work and other developmental experiences. You will help them navigate available opportunities, understand next steps and connect with the right sources of support. During busy periods you will also contribute to centrally organised workshops across all Schools, ensuring students can access high‑quality employability provision when they need it most.

You will collaborate with colleagues across Careers and Placements, including employer engagement teams and placement specialists to ensure students are well supported as they transition into work‑based experiences. You will also play an active role in reviewing data and student feedback to help shape and improve our employability offer.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with diverse groups of learners and can communicate in a clear, engaging and supportive way. You will bring experience of delivering workshops or interactive sessions, either online or in person, and confidence using a range of digital tools. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and a collaborative, flexible approach are all essential.
