The EPSRC has awarded Aston University funding to establish a cross-institutional, multidisciplinary research network called “Renewable Energy Access for Future UK Net-Zero Cooling (Reef-UKC)” under the funding scheme “EPSRC Network funding to discover the next generation of renewable energy technologies”.  We seek an experienced research network Project Manager to support this exciting research network. The network aims to collaborate and generate positive impacts on the cooling industry, lead evidence-based research and facilitate seed funding for interdisciplinary projects that leverage renewable energy sources directly for net zero cooling, maximising system-level integration benefits while addressing the unique challenges of the UK’s economic and environmental, societal, behavioural, and political contexts. The Hub will engage with academics and industrialists across the UK. We have a goal to become a next-generation Supergen Hub, contributing to the UK’s net-zero cooling future.

The network will run for two years, until 30 June 2027. The post of Network Project Manager is a crucial role, responsible for supporting the delivery of the Reef-UKC project. This involves working closely with the Network Directors and project partners from academia and industry to manage administrative, financial, and collaborative reporting responsibilities.

You will be responsible for monitoring and facilitating the project’s progress in line with the objectives described in the funded proposal. You will maintain and manage professional relationships with project partners and stakeholders, identify and improve systems, and represent the Reef-UKC network to stakeholders and events. The role involves liaising with relevant staff to expand the network’s partnerships and support relevant research activities such as administering funding allocation and maintaining good practices supervised by the EDI lead. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for dissemination, planning and facilitating meetings and delivering networking events, providing the secretariat of the Reef-UKC Management Group and its steering committee, providing administrative and organisational support to the Project Director and partners, collating progress and financial reports, and maintaining records of network achievements, impact, and deliverables.

Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Reef-UKC network PI, Dr Ahmed Rezk (a.rezk@aston.ac.uk), for an informal conversation about the role.
