This is an exciting time to join Aston University’s HR Systems Team as we deliver on the ambitious Aston 2030 Strategy. As we transform how we attract, support and develop our people, your expertise in data and insight will be pivotal to our success.

We’re looking for a collaborative and data-focused professional to support the development and analysis of management information across the HR department and wider University. Reporting to the Head of HR Systems and working closely with senior leaders, you’ll be a trusted specialist for people data – turning complex staff information into meaningful insights that inform and support strategic decisions across the University.

You’ll play an important role in promoting data integrity, shaping how we visualise and use workforce information, and ensuring we meet key statutory reporting requirements. Your ability to combine technical skills with thoughtful, solutions-focused thinking will help us deliver on our People Strategy and contribute to a thriving, inclusive workforce.

What You’ll Bring

  • A creative, analytical mindset with enthusiasm for using data to support decisions
  • Experience extracting and manipulating data from complex systems using tools like Power BI, Business Objects, or similar
  • The ability to work confidently with large datasets and present clear, accessible insights
  • A collaborative, flexible approach with the ability to balance priorities effectively
  • Desirable skills include statutory data return experience, database scripting (e.g. T-SQL), and familiarity with HR Management Information Systems.
