Aston University is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and professional Events & Administration Officer to join the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role at the heart of University leadership, providing essential administrative and events support that enables the smooth running of one of the institution’s busiest and most high‑profile offices.
In this varied and fast‑paced role, you will act as the first point of contact for the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, handling enquiries with confidence, tact, and professionalism. Working closely with the Executive Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, you will support complex diary management, meeting co-ordination, travel arrangements, correspondence, and document preparation, often dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
A key part of the role involves co‑ordinating major University events and high‑level visits, as well as supporting flagship events such as the annual Charter Dinner and Graduation ceremonies. You will also take a lead role in supporting the Honours Committee, preparing papers, writing minutes, and ensuring the smooth progression of nominations and committee business.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to build strong working relationships across the University and with senior external stakeholders. Outstanding organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle competing priorities are essential. You will also be confident using IT systems, managing budgets and expenses, and drafting high‑quality written material. An interest in developing and using AI tools is welcomed.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious administrator or emerging events professional to develop their skills in a supportive, collaborative Executive Support Team and make a tangible impact at a leading UK university.
