The Aston School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies are looking to recruit two lecturers in Computer Science to further grow our capacity in research and teaching in this area. Aston University has a very ambitious strategy in digital technologies, which benefits the school directly in both its research and teaching environments, providing exciting opportunities to develop your research and teaching career.

The school is experiencing a period of growth in terms of research activity and student recruitment in the digital sciences: computer science, cyber security, artificial intelligence and data science. Depending on your research interests you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in several areas.  Collaborations are possible with a number of research centres and institutes within the University, and we are keen to attract applicants who can develop ambitious research collaborations both within and outside the University. Candidates are encouraged to look at the University website for more information. We host the Cyber Security Research Centre (CyberHub) and Aston Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application and have close links with the Sir Peter Rigby Digital Futures Institutes.

To strengthen our existing teaching and research strengths we are particularly keen to attract applicants with expertise in distributed computing (including cloud and edge computing); modern advanced software engineering practice including DevOps, MLOps and Infrastructure as Code; software testing; distributed software architectures; design patterns; microservices; and the development and deployment of scalable data-driven software systems. We are also keen to build up expertise in Research Software Engineering and applicants who have the potential to collaborate with Research Centres and Institutes within the University are particularly welcome.

You will have an excellent research track record, commensurate with your career stage, and demonstrate the ability to produce high quality research outputs and impact.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a range of teaching activities and the wider curricula in the School.
