To further strengthen our research and teaching portfolio, in line with our strategic objectives, the Department of Sociology and Policy within the School of Law and Social Sciences, wishes to appoint a Professor of Criminology. The Professor will provide exceptional strategic leadership of research and scholarship in the Department and will lead the expansion of our new undergraduate and postgraduate Criminology programmes. This appointment will further develop the subject group’s excellent performance at REF2021. We welcome applications from those with excellent teaching and research across the range of specialisms and methodological approaches in the field of Criminology.

 Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an excellent international research profile, a track record of external grant capture and/or impact, experience in academic leadership and management, and a commitment to collegiality, inclusivity and the development of early career researchers. They will be committed to delivering excellent and innovative teaching, and be motivated to provide the very best experience for students. Any subject specialism will be considered, but we particularly welcome applicants with expertise in understanding digital or environmental crime. The successful candidate is likely to have the capacity to work with and involve colleagues in different disciplines from within and beyond the School of Law and Social Sciences at Aston University.
