We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on an innovative research project that has been funded through the Leverhulme Trust research grant - Harnessing vector soliton supramolecular structures (HARVEST). The originality of the project is in the application of the novel concept of the controllable manipulation of the self-organisation scenarios (different pulse patterns) in a laser-based model system.
This position is based at one of the largest photonic research group in UK - Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies (AIPT) https://www.aston.ac.uk/research/eps/aipt
The successful applicants will join a world-renowned group and will be working at the cutting edge of interdisciplinary research problems. Primary role includes contribution to the theoretical and experimental study of polarisation dynamics of mode locked fibre lasers. They will define, coordinate and supervise the research and training developments; help to manage a fibre optic lasers laboratory and facilities; disseminate work within the multi-disciplinary team and through publications in the leading high-impact international journals and presentations at national and international conferences; supervise PhD student; contribute to the planning and development of project activities.
We are looking for a candidate with exceptional skills in the development and experimental and theoretical characterisation of mode-locked fibre lasers.
The post is available for a fixed term of up to 36 months.
