Aston Business School, located in the heart of Birmingham - England’s second largest city - seeks to appoint a highly motivated, ambitious academic with the ability and interest in providing excellence in research, teaching and impact in the field of Economics.
The Economics, Finance and Entrepreneurship Department conducts multi-disciplinary research in a range of applied areas. We would be particularly interested to hear from people with expertise in theoretical modelling of international trade. We invest heavily in data such as ORBIS, so the ability to complement this research would also be beneficial.
We host a number of research centres which you will be able to become a member of:
The Centre for Business Prosperity
The Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME)
Enterprise Research Centre (ERC)
We run a range of successful undergraduate degrees in Economics and a new MSc in Economics. There is a thriving teaching culture within the department and members of the department are also extremely active in the Economics Network. Innovation in teaching plays a prominent part in our pedagogic activities and we lead the College wide A-GamE centre on the use of gamification in teaching.
A teaching qualification is desirable but if you are at an early stage in your career, then we will work with you to ensure you have a teaching qualification and Fellowship of Advance HE.
For informal discussions relating to this post contact the Head of Department, Dr Matthew Olczak; Tel: +44(0)121 204 3107; email: m.olczak@aston.ac.uk.
