An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the library at Aston University, to be part of a team of Information Resources Specialists within the Content and Discovery Team.

We are looking highly motivated and experienced individual to lead on, and be an advocate for, the acquisition of ebook packages and eTextbooks and associated metadata, and to lead on the management of our printed book-stock. You will also lead on the management of financial processes for procurement. 

As an Information Resource Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that library users have access to high-quality information resources that enhance their learning, teaching and research, and other activities that align with Aston’s 2030 strategy. You will work closely with colleagues in the Content and Discovery Team and therefore have excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. 

To apply, you will be able to demonstrate significant experience of the procurement of library resources and experience of working with metadata, and stay current with emerging sector developments in the provision of information resources, bringing innovations forward as appropriate. You will be experienced in working within a team, sharing knowledge and responsibilities. You will have significant experience in work with Library Management Systems. You will have demonstrable experience of the management of financial processes relating to the procurement of electronic and print resources and building relationships with colleagues in the Finance Department.
