APEC delivers a broad range of work-based learning programmes, including Foundations Degrees, Degree Apprenticeships and Professional Engineering programmes. The common theme of all these programmes is the emphasis on working with employers to produce graduates who, in addition to all the normal academic abilities, have demonstrated the competencies and capabilities required for accelerated employment success. With our emphasis on promoting greater access, diversity and inclusion our students come from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and educational experiences, for whom our blended, work-based, distance learning programmes offer the best opportunity for their professional development.

Applicants for this post must have a first degree in computer science or a related discipline and desirably an MSc or PhD qualification in a related discipline. We would also expect applicants to hold a formal teaching qualification such as a PGCHE and / or have achieved FHEA or be willing to achieve this once in post.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience of teaching in one or more of the following areas: web development, information security, Artificial Intelligence, Geographic Information Systems and mobile development.

Applicants should have experience of designing, delivering, and managing work-based learning programmes. This constitutes the major part of our work and the successful applicant will be expected to develop, innovate, and teach with such learning materials, in both the role of Module Owner and as a co-deliverer supporting other Module Owners. The successful applicant will also be expected to work with colleagues to innovate and improve our delivery and assessment tools at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as we continue to expand our range of programmes and innovate with their formats. Excellent communication and cooperation with other members of the teaching, coaching and administration teams, as well as strict adherence to quality assurance measures are therefore all essential to the role.

Applicants should be familiar with VLE software such as Blackboard or Moodle, and be able to demonstrate a record of positive student feedback.

In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to be play a key role in all the operational aspects of APEC including engagement with employers and professional bodies, acting as either academic or professional supervisor to students, and taking part in open days and helping with outreach activities. Where appropriate, there will also be opportunity for involvement in, or leadership of, key operational areas.

The successful candidate will receive guidance, mentorship and support with their own professional and personal development.
