Aston Business School will be a global leader in bridging the world of intellectual discovery and the practical needs of enterprises and the professions. Our goal is to enhance enterprise and enterprises. We develop individuals to perform better within enterprises and the professions, and to create successful new ventures. We support business leaders in enhancing their organisation’s performance and growth. We advise policy-makers on ways to improve society and the economy. Our research creates new knowledge that furthers these aspirations. It is our particular aim to ensure that the opportunities we create are made available to all members of our society.
Aston has been a leading university for graduate employment success for over 25 years. Our close and established links with business, the public sector and the professions ensure that our career focussed degree programmes are inspiring, challenging and constantly updated to equip students with essential work-related skills and experiences.
The Aston Global Advantage is our professional development programme and an integrated module that runs throughout all MSc and LLM courses at Aston Business School. The programme equips students, many of whom are international students, with transferable skills and relevant experiences for the workplace, giving them a competitive edge in the job market, or for when starting a business. Flexible and personalised, this programme can be tailored to students’ career aspirations, development needs, or existing professional experience.
The team of MSc / LLM Academic Support Tutors will support our postgraduate students to navigate their course requirements by providing pastoral and academic guidance. Coaches will work predominantly from within the Aston Global Advantage, providing regular contact for students to support the development of employability skills and team-working competences. They will support the teaching team to deliver careers and transferable skills sessions and will act as personal tutors for students, to enrich the overall student experience at Aston. Coaches with level 7 academic qualifications will also supervise Master’s dissertation students and assist with assessment of coursework.
You will be a true people-centric professional and have the ability to provide exceptional support to our international and UK students. You will work with the Aston Global Advantage teaching and careers support teams to deliver a variety of learning activities. Committed to excellent teaching and outstanding student support, you will also be able to add to our business and community engagement work. You will need either an undergraduate degree (for grade 7), a masters or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject discipline (for Grade 8), or a recognised coaching / counselling qualification, or you will have significant practical experience of supporting students through training, coaching and related activities.
