The School of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University is acknowledged as UK-leading with an outstanding reputation for teaching and research. We are now seeking to appoint a senior academic colleague to join our senior management team and provide management and leadership in Psychology to deliver our exciting future plans. As Head of Psychology the post holder will be responsible for providing academic leadership, ensuring the development and enhancement of the discipline as well as its regional, national and international reputation. The post holder will need to be established in their academic discipline, and able to demonstrate academic leadership through an established record of research, teaching and / or professional practice in their subject area. All candidates must be able to demonstrate the necessary teamwork skills to foster collaboration with existing colleagues, to build links both within the University and externally, and the attitude and ability to engage in continuous professional development.

Members of the Psychology Department are members of either the Applied Health Research Group (AHRG) or the Basic and Applied Neurosciences Group (BANG). Further information about research activities and facilities may be found at and  

The School of Life & Health Sciences delivers high quality teaching across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes including integrated placement year opportunities in clinical, educational, research, and business settings. Our undergraduate programmes in Audiology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Optometry, Pharmacy and Psychology are all accredited and approved by the relevant professional regulatory body. The Psychology Department runs a suite of BPS accredited Single and Joint Honours undergraduate programmes, Full-time and online Masters Programmes in Health Psychology and a Masters Programme in Cognitive Neuroscience. The Department also contributes to the Undergraduate programme in Neurosciences. 

Candidates with strong research and learning & teaching profiles in any area that will complement our internationally-recognised research and teaching in Psychology are invited to apply. It is essential that the successful candidate has a good degree (1st or 2.1) in Psychology or a closely related discipline, a Doctorate in Psychology or a closely related discipline, and is a current member of the relevant professional body, or eligible for membership.
