Aston Business School is a Triple Accredited University (EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA) and one of the leading Universities in the UK for academic research (in the recent REF we received 100% for Research Impact), excellent teaching (awarded Gold rating in the 2016/17 TEF) and business engagement. We are only one of three UK institutions with the Small Business Charter Gold Award. In 2020 we were the Guardian’s University of the Year and the THE’s Entrepreneurial University of the Year. Aston ranks in QS’ global top 100 for business and management. The University actively supports and finances academic spin-offs.

The Operations and Information Management (OIM) Department conducts teaching and engagement activities in various aspects of operations, analytics and IS/ICT. There is a thriving teaching innovation and research culture in the Department, which has a strong reputation for being both rigorous and relevant. The OIM Department currently has four centres of research excellence, one of these is the Cyber Security Innovation (CSI) Centre.

The Cyber Security Innovation (CSI) Centre csiresearch.co.uk at Aston brings together stakeholders from industry, government and leading cybersecurity research institutions and builds effective working relationships. CSI members undertake projects to address real-world cyber security challenges and create innovative solutions.

As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking inspirational and highly motivated individuals to contribute to the development of the CSI Centre and OIM Department’s teaching, PhD/DBA supervision, and enterprise activities. We welcome discussions with prospective candidates whose interests include, but are not limited to: information systems, emergent technologies, cyber security, virtual financial applications and crypto currencies, artificial intelligence and machine learning, IT consultancy, e-business and virtual organisations.

Candidates should have experience of teaching technology management, digital transformation; technology consulting, cybersecurity, privacy and data security management; AI and machine learning as well as block chain technologies.

We are also keen to discuss new ideas to strengthen our teaching portfolio, research profile and business support provision.

You will have a good first degree, or equivalent, as well as a PhD in a relevant academic discipline. It would be desirable to be able to demonstrate an emerging teaching related research path having worked in funded projects, through publication of research outputs and creation of research-based impacts in industry and or society. We are especially looking for people with practical IT/IS skills (e.g. database and IS/IT systems development) and a ‘hands-on and can-do’ attitude.

This post is appointable at Lecturer (Grade 8 or 9) level depending on qualifications, aptitude and experience. Your application must state the grade.
