Applicants are invited to apply for a part-time Research Assistant position, 0.5 FTE for a 3 months fix-term contract to join our BBSRC-funded project named “Application of nano-flow cytometry for the characterisation of biomanufactured magnetic fluids” in collaboration with the industrial partner NanoFCM Ltd. 

The successful candidate will have a good honours degree in a biological, chemical or, or process engineering discipline. You will possess good knowledge and experience in chemical and physical characterisation of nanomaterials, fermentation and bioprocessing.

Familiarity with the fields of magnetotactic bacteria and magnetosomes will be highly advantageous. Practical experience in any of the following is desired: flow cytometry; X-Ray; TEM; DLS; microbial fermenters; magnetic separation and; analytical biochemistry (i.e. ICP, GC-MS). We will provide full training in new techniques, supported by the possibility for national travel and collaboration with an industrial partner.
