The Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Aston University seeks applications for a chair/reader in bioenergy and bioproducts (appointment level to be made commensurate with successful candidate profile). EBRI is internationally renowned for its work on biomass, energy and sustainable bioproducts. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction within our experimental research portfolio to support wider institute objectives. They will use EBRI’s state of the art laboratory facilities to deliver an internationally leading research programme in bioenergy and bioproduct applications

The postholder will have well established relevant research activities in bioenergy and bioproducts that they will continue to pursue and further develop within EBRI, working with our many academic and industrial partners. They will be expected to take on leadership responsibilities in EBRI across various relevant subject areas, be responsible for encouraging and mentoring junior colleagues, engage with and represent EBRI to a variety of external academic, industrial and societal stakeholders. They will play a key role in developing the research strategy and direction of EBRI. 

In addition to having a good relevant first degree, the postholder will have a PhD qualification in a relevant academic discipline, and a recognised teaching qualification or commitment to obtain membership of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) at Fellow level as a minimum.
