Optometrist Project Manager – KTP Associate

Salary:  £32,000 (depending on experience) plus personal development budget of £5000

This is an exciting opportunity for a professionally qualified Optometrist to develop a Digital Decision Support System to aid the diagnoses of eye diseases and improve patients’ quality of care. You will lead a project team, managing the expectations of various stakeholders, under the guidance of an Academic and Company Supervisor with additional support from a mentor from Innovate UK.

This position is a 30 month fixed term contract, with up to £5000 dedicated training budget tailored towards your personal development and future career.

Candidate Profile: You will have a BSc/ BOptom/ MOptom degree (min 2:1) in Optometry or related discipline (e.g. Medicine/Ophthalmology) and will be registered with the General Optical Council/ General Medical Council or similar.

Key skills/ experience required include:

  • Ability to initiate & conduct evidence based studies gathering clinical data Sound IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel to support development of an AI based solution (additional training will be provided as required).
  • Ability to work with complex concepts and explore creative problem solving approaches.

Personal attributes:

  • Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in a multidisciplinary project team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong organisational skills to take project ownership, co-ordinate work-streams and achieve agreed objectives.
  • Self-motivated & confident with good persuasion & negotiation skills.  Fit in with the organisational culture and present a positive image of the company to clients.

The Company: Cathedral Eye Clinic is a world-class eye healthcare facility with a team of ophthalmologists with specialist expertise in laser and lens replacement surgery, management/ treatment of cataract, retinal conditions, glaucoma and oculoplastics. Aston University: You will work alongside an academic team led by Dr Shehzad Naroo with support from Dr Mark Dunne, Dr Raquel Gil Cazorla and Professor Sunil Shah from Aston’s Vision Sciences Department within the School of Life and Health Sciences, which undertakes cutting-edge research with real impact.

Location: You will be based predominantly at Cathedral Eye Clinic in Belfast, but will also have access to facilities at Aston University in central Birmingham. Some travel to key clients may also be required.
