The Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Aston University seeks applications for a Research Fellow to support visiting researchers as part of the Horizon2020 project; BRISK2. EBRI is internationally renowned for its work on biomass, energy and sustainable bioproducts. The successful candidate will use EBRI’s state of the art laboratory facilities to deliver "virtual visits" where an in person visit is not viable, conducting experiments of the researchers behalf or train visiting researchers in the use of laboratory equipment and supervise the experiment process.

The post holder will have a first degree and PhD in an area relevant to thermal biomass processing and analysis of materials, intermediates and products (gas, liquid and solid). They will be expected to fully train visiting researchers on the use of various laboratory equipment such as continuous and batch process equipment, thermogravimetric analysis and Pyroprobe GCMS analysis.There will also be opportunity to engage with continuous personal and professional development in line with the demands of the role, including undertaking relevant training and development activities to develop themselves and the development of others. Some European travel may be required.
