Aston University is a dual-intensive institution.   Research is an integral part of our academic identity, evidenced in REF 2021 by the significant growth in the number of our academic staff doing high quality research.  Our education provision is focussed on creating work-ready graduates through close engagement and partnerships with industry, commerce, professional bodies and the public sector, enabling our students to achieve their potential with us.

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) is a hub of teaching and research excellence, engaging in collaborative and impactful research throughout our Institutes and Schools.  We have emerged from Covid with a new energy for impactful research and high quality research-led teaching and we are poised to make significant investments.  The creation of a new role of Deputy Dean (Research) reflects this commitment.

The role reports to the PVC & Executive Dean and carries overall responsibility for the College’s Research Strategy. This includes developing and ensuring we have a thriving research community which produces sustainable research, securing high quality outputs and impactful engagement.
