You will act as a first point of contact for the Careers and Placements team, responding to enquiries face‑to‑face, by phone and email. Alongside this, you will provide effective operational and administrative support to keep the department running smoothly.

Key responsibilities include coordinating meetings and departmental activities, assisting recruitment and induction events, and providing diary management and administrative support to colleagues. You will also provide financial administration, including raising purchase orders, processing credit card statements and managing departmental orders. You will also act as a super-user of the Aston Futures system, used by the department to facilitate student engagement. 

We are looking for someone with experience in a busy, customer‑focused environment, strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail. You will be confident handling a range of enquiries, able to manage competing priorities, and committed to delivering excellent service in a diverse university environment.

This pivotal role is responsible for managing a varied caseload of complex and sensitive student matters, ensuring all cases are progressed efficiently, fairly and in full accordance with University policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

As a trusted adviser to students, senior academic leaders and Professional Services colleagues, you will provide authoritative guidance, support high‑level decision‑making and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our processes and service delivery. This is a varied role within a busy, customer-focused environment. You will act as a first point of contact for student record queries, provide support to students and staff, and process updates to student records using the University’s system (SITS), including changes to programme, status, attendance and fees. You will also assist the administration of assessment outcomes and degree certificate production, maintain accurate fee information, and ensure updates to external organisations such as the Student Loans Company and sponsors are completed in a timely manner.

In addition, you will contribute to key activities such as enrolment and graduation ceremonies.

We are looking for someone with administrative or customer service experience, strong organisational skills, and a high level of accuracy when handling data. You will be a clear communicator, confident using Microsoft Office, and able to manage your workload effectively. Experience of working in Higher Education or with systems such as SITS would be advantageous.
