Based in the heart of Birmingham, Aston University is a vibrant and diverse community. Our Campus Safety Team plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As a Campus Safety Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure campus environment through a combination of customer service, security patrols, incident response and emergency support. Please note,  this role offers a 4 on 4 off pattern, 2 days / 2 nights.

Key duties include:

• Conducting foot and vehicle patrols across campus.
• Responding to incidents, emergencies and welfare concerns.
• Monitoring CCTV, access control and alarm systems.
• Supporting students, staff and visitors with safety-related enquiries.
• Managing access to buildings and enforcing University policies.
• Recording incidents and maintaining accurate reports.
• Working closely with emergency services and internal stakeholders.
• Assisting major events, open days and graduation ceremonies.

We are looking for individuals who:

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Demonstrate sound judgement and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Are committed to delivering outstanding customer service.
• Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Possess good IT and report-writing skills.

Previous experience in security, policing, military service, customer service or a similar operational environment is desirable but not essential.
