We are seeking to appoint a Post Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to work in the field of optical frequency comb technology at the Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies (AIPT). You will join the group of Dr. Auro M. Perego at AIPT, and you will work in the framework of a Royal Society Research Project in close collaboration with academic research partners overseas in Japan. The project led by Dr. Perego as the Principal Investigator aims at developing sources of frequency combs for applications in imaging and microscopy.

You will have a PhD degree in Physics or Engineering on a topic related to photonics and you will be able to perform independent work in photonics lab. Previous experience in experimental work with optical frequency combs and mode-locked lasers is required. By joining this project, you will lead experimental activity on building and characterising optical frequency combs and in their applications in imaging. You will participate in numerical modelling too. You will be involved in several collaboration activities with academic partners, also including research visits and hosting partners to AIPT. As a member of the team, you will be involved in general activities of the group, including participation in PhD students co-supervision.

By joining AIPT you will be part of one of the largest research centres in photonics in the UK and in Europe. AIPT is an internationally recognised institution at the forefront of research in several fields of photonics including optical communications, optical sensing and signal processing, fibre lasers, semiconductor lasers, and nanophotonics.
