Post 1: All the year round. Two week rota, working an average of 20.85 hours per week. Hours are weekday evenings plus alternate Saturdays and Sundays in the daytime. 

Post 2: 34 weeks of the year between September and June. Two week rota, working an average of 20.65 hours per week, weekday evenings only.

A reliable and trustworthy individual, with excellent customer care and communication skills, is required to take a lead role in the security and safety of the library and its customers during evenings and weekends, including involvement in fire safety. 

Key responsibilities will include staffing the library’s main entrance and operating the visitor access control system, patrolling the library to ensure that regulations are observed, handling standard customer enquiries and undertaking routine clerical tasks. Sometimes you will be opening and closing the library building at designated times. There will be hand over meetings at the start and end of the shift.

You should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and possess basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills to undertake routine library procedures.  A commitment to providing a high level of customer care is essential as is the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people, particularly young adults.

You must be able to work the hours specified above. Weekday evening shifts start promptly at 16.45hrs. The anticipated start date for this appointment is mid-September.
