Project Manager (Aston for Life)

Alumni Relations & Development

Location:  Aston University Main Campus
Salary:  £34,304 to £40,927 per annum
Grade:  Grade 08
Contract Type:  Fixed Term (12 months)
Basis:  Full Time
Closing Date:  23.59 hours GMT on Tuesday 01 February 2022
Interview Date:  To be confirmed
Reference:  R220020
Release Date:  Friday 14 January 2022

Founded in 1895 and a University since 1966, Aston has more than 100,000 graduates across 140 countries. Our alumni go on to do amazing things after graduation: founding businesses, leading multinational companies, setting up charities and shaping their communities. Many are actively supporting the University and our students, sharing advice, funding scholarships and research, mentoring or giving guest lectures.

Aston has an exciting new five-year strategy for Alumni and Development: our vision is to create an engaged community who know that Aston is committed to their personal and professional development throughout their lives. In turn, they will be actively contributing to their alumni community, the University and our beneficiaries to achieve clearly defined outcomes. The Alumni Relations & Development (ARD) team drives this vision and champions the interests and potential of alumni and supporters within the University.

As Project Manager (Aston for Life) you will own delivery of the Aston for Life platform for alumni: the major initiative in the new strategy. Aston for Life will offer all Aston graduates the opportunity to access personalised, bespoke professional and personal development programmes, with innovative Aston content, global alumni networks and exclusive events. Working with the Alumni Relations & Development team, you will undertake extensive consultation and engagement with alumni, mapping and sourcing content, produce the brief, identify potential solutions and suppliers, oversee the procurement process and develop a comprehensive plan for an exciting and inspiring launch.

You will be highly motivated, able to work independently and excited by the opportunity to deliver a flagship project from start to finish: this is a hands-on role. You'll have significant project management experience, including delivery through disparate or part-time resources, rather than full-time project teams. You will be comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels and will have excellent communication skills.

The Alumni Relations & Development team are currently working in a hybrid way with a mix of on-campus and remote working. We are open to discussions with the post-holder on location and flexibility of working hours, as long as the project can be successfully delivered. Please contact Kerrie Holland with any questions or for an informal discussion about the role. Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 14th February 2022.

Please note that anonymous shortlisting will be carried out for this role as part of Aston University’s commitment to equality and diversity and ensuring a fair and consistent approach to recruitment.   Personal details that are included on application forms, including the candidate’s name and address will not be disclosed to the shortlisting panel.  We kindly ask that candidates do not send CVs or cover letters as these will not be considered. Please note that only answers that fall within the application form questions will be assessed.
