General Counsel

Office Of The General Counsel

Reporting to the COO, as General Counsel you will play an important strategic role as part of the senior management team, advising key stakeholders and board members on all significant legal, compliance and policy matters.

You will be responsible for implementing legal and compliance strategies, managing external counsel and managing the budget for the Office of the General Counsel. You will also be the Data Protection Officer and Company Secretary and, on occasion, act as Director for companies within the group.

The ideal candidate will be a commercial lawyer with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the higher education sector and strong knowledge of data protection and privacy law. You must have excellent communication skills and be confident in managing new and existing legal processes, an in-house legal team and experience in managing budgets.

Satisfactory DBS clearance will be required for this role.
