Executive Director of Finance

This is a key role for the University, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer. The Executive Director of Finance will be an inspiring, and innovative leader who will contribute actively to the development and facilitation of the University's goals. Partnering with the Executive and senior leaders at the University, this is a critical role to ensure the University, and its subsidiaries, operate in a financially effective, efficient, and sustainable way.

The post-holder needs to have a commercial mind-set and excellent financial acumen, with the ability to lead a finance team. They will have responsibility for the overall operational leadership and management of the Finance Department, as well as contributing to the overall strategic development of the University as a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Operations Group. The provision of effective, high quality financial advice and support, to a wide variety of the University's key stakeholders, is also a key element of this role; as well as "best in class" operational and financial practices.

The importance of this appointment is central to the continued development of the University and its placing within the Higher Education sector in the UK. To that affect the University is seeking to identity high calibre and high capability individuals who can contribute and also enjoy a successful career within a high performing team.

Successful candidates must be Degree educated and a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with significant post qualification experience. Experience of leading and developing a reasonably sized team of finance staff is essential. Senior financial management experience within a large and complex organisation in either the public or private sector is critical for success in this role.
